Artist Bio and Statement

Elaine has a certificate in ceramics from the School of Craft and Design at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. Since moving to Victoria in 2002, she has been active in the local arts community. She was initially a member of the William Street pottery studio at Xchanges Gallery and Studios, an artists' cooperative in Esquimalt. In 2005, she left Xchanges to begin sharing studio space with two other potters in the Cedar Hill area. Elaine is a member of Victoria's Garden City Potters group and the South Vancouver Island Potters' Guild.

Most of Elaine's work is thrown using terracotta (brown) clay and fired in an electric kiln to cone 6. She intends her pottery to be enjoyable, useful and a source of beauty in everyday life.
